Course description: Provides the same information as a traditional, noncalculus-based, first-semester physics course, without the laboratory work. The course consists of three modules, Physics 161, 162, and 163. You may choose your written assignments and determine how much they count toward your grade. You may also take each exam twice. C754-161, Introduction to Mechanics, covers introductory material, motion in one dimension, vectors and two-dimensional motion, and the laws of motion. C754-162, Mechanics beyond Newton's Law, covers work and energy, momentum and collisions, circular motion and the law of gravity, rotational equilibrium and rotational dynamics, and solids and fluids. C754-163, Thermodynamics; Vibration and Wave Motion, covers thermal physics, heat, the laws of thermodynamics, vibrations and waves, and sound.
